Like the previous several trips, Mahi were the target of this trip. We followed
the gameplan that had bringing fish back sucessfully each of the last half dozen
charters. Things were different this trip. A couple days of west winds knocked
the sea's down, and had a large bloom of larval jellyfish in the area we have
been finding fish in the last couple weeks. We worked a little deeper, clearing
them and into several "Rip" lines. Fliers were there, though not as in good a
number as earlier in the week.
Sea's were really ideal, 1-2' with a little chop. This unfortionatly still did not
help one of my guest stomach, so we stuck it out as long as we could. We worked
the area out to the weather buoy and back, with several killed Ballyhoo, and a
few screaming drag runs, but no hookups. We headed to 8a to see if calmer
conditions would help my guest stomach settle.

Water at 8a was calm and glassy when we arrived. It was also about 85 deg.
Turtles and Dolphin (Flipper) were there for the eco part of our trip. We put a
line down and one out to try for a King. First sonar hit marked a school of something
really big. We circled the area, and looked down to see a school of at least a
dozen large sharks about 50 feet below. This nice view was followed a while, with
visability like this not common on 8a. These looked to be about 8' long Nurse
sharks. We moved on and finally found a King, and brought him to the boat.

With a 7yo junior angler onboard, we decided to anchor, so he could have some
"Catching" time. Our Reef's don't dissapoint. First drop with a chicken rig
brought up 2 Sea Bass. And this continued the rest of the day. Storms were
beginning to sound their arrival, so to the port we headed. We did not get to
land the fish we hoped for, but my seasick guest felt much beter once we got
anchored up in calmer waters, and she started catching fish. We still had a
couple one gallon bags full of fish for the day, so there was still more than
just memories to take home.
